It has been a swarmy spring by most beekeepers accounts. I caught one swarm and Carl has hived three. Swarms are the honeybees way to procreate-the Queen takes half the hive to start a new hive in a new land and lays an egg for the remaining half of the colony to raise their own Queen. A swarm is a sight to behold and they are not dangerous because they have no home to protect. A warm winter turned into an early spring and blooms galore. |

Our bees are thrilled to have a tulip poplar flow going on right now. Why do my girls love tulip poplar so much? Because one trip to one bloom can fill her honey stomach and honeybees LOVE efficiency! |
